unless i'm mistaken, the mayor did not himself make or post the innuendo-laden infographics (nor did any of his immediate team). it was made and posted by the DNC.

Good article on why its a lot harder to change things than armchair radicals might suggest

Great piece, makes more sense of this situation than any I’ve seen!

The so-called "DSA Left" (MUG, Red Star, etc) is not reacting well to any of this and currently believes that Mamdani is somewhere between Reagan and Hitler because he can't magically find money out of nowhere to fix the budget without cutting programs.

I think a more.... "down to earth" characterization of the position is that this is one of the reasons DSA should not have run someone for mayor of New York in the first place (particularly without having secured the legislature first), as a socialist is now the public face of a budget crisis for which (as you pointed out) there is no clear fix -- meaning a socialist may also be the public face of austerity

Insightful, I haven’t thought about it like that

There’s no “budget crisis” Mamdani simply over-promised to win an election. He will deliver nothing but social media posts to feed your petty resentments. Y’all can’t handle the truth.

He’s still very smiley let’s see for how long

I will say I found the Daily News editorial board siding with Menin on the budget a little bit surprising since she’s wrong on technocratic grounds (trying to double count vacancies) even though Mamdani’s “solutions” of taxing the rich are also terrible
